The colored lenses come in 3 varieties:
1. Enhancement Tints – it is a solid tint being transparent in nature.
It is darker than the visibility tint. It gives a very different look
to the natural eye color. The lenses with enhancement tints are best suited
for the individuals with light colored eyes. Their wish to make the eye
color a little darker can be fulfilled by this lens. It brings more intensity
to the natural color of their eyes.
2. Visibility tints – it is a light green or blue tint added to the contact
lens. This helps a person to see the lens better while inserting and removing
it from the eye. A person can easily notice the lens when dropped. The
tint added is very light and therefore doesn’t affect the natural eye
color.
3. Opaque tints – these color tints are darker. This kind of colored
contact lens changes your eye color entirely. People with dark colored
eyes can use these opaque tint contact lenses since they compile of solid
colors. They come in variety of colors such as blue, green, grey, amethyst
and hazel.
Some of these colored lenses are so made that it gets difficult to differentiate
between the natural eye color and the artificial color. The colored area
of the eye, known as iris, gets a very natural look. One can only recognize
it through the center of the eye i.e. pupil.
The contact lenses used for theatrical or costume purposes fall under
the group of opaque tints. These contact lenses give the person’s eye
a look of a zombie or a cat or a jaguar or even an alien.
